Dr Kiho Lee
-Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (Korea)
-Industrial Pharmacologist (Korea)
-PhD in neurophysiology (Korea)
-Neuroendocrinologist (Otago, NZ)
-Registered Bowen Therapist (NZ)
Dr Lee has over 25 years of professional experience in health industry. He was born and grew up in a rural town east of Seoul. In 1992 he completed the training for Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Seoul National University. After studying pharmacology as his speciality, he joined a biotech institute to develop a drug for arrhythmias by modulating electrical energy flow in the heart. The project was expanded through his Ph.D. thesis in which the role of the autonomic nervous system in myocardial infarction was researched. Through the doctoral degree awarded in 2005 he has entered into the world of neuroscience.
In 2006, Dr Lee moved to Dunedin to continue his research on neuroendocrinology at Otago University. His major research interest was to understand electrical circuits in the hypothalamus, a part of the brain which is in charge of homeostasis of the body. The body maintains health by keeping homeostasis through negative or positive functional feedback loops that are contributed by neuroendocrine and neuroimmune systems. If the body fails in keeping homeostasis, it causes systemic health problems such as chronic pain, chronic fatigue syndrome, diabetes, hypertension, depression, infertility and immune failure. Bowen Therapy is exceedingly effective in restoring compromised homeostasis of the body system by relieving neuromyofascial tension, which significantly underlies chronic body conditions both in humans and animals.
